Michelle Mielke Bio:

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Michelle Mielke began playing for her church services and local weddings when she was in middle school. In high school she won festivals and competitions at the local, regional and state levels. Later she paid her college tuition by playing in restaurants on the weekends and as a rehearsal pianist for musical theatre productions on weeknights, as well as teaching her first piano students. Now a veteran teacher of over 30 years, Ms. Mielke has a B.S. from Eastern Oregon University where she studied with Dr. Matthew Cooper, and an M.A. from Washington State University (studies with Dr. Gerald Berthiaume). She was a faculty member at WSU School of Music until 2017, teaching piano pedagogy and coordinating the Piano Pedagogy Lab School. Mrs. Mielke is an active performer at her church and in the community, and in the Music Teachers National Association as an officer, adjudicator and presenter. She also enjoys hiking, working on various remodeling projects, and playing her accordion.
